About the Client

The client is a leading project management firm, specializing in innovative and efficient solutions for the construction industry. Their expertise spans a wide range of projects, including residential properties, hospitality, commercial, and cutting-edge high-end projects. By employing a meticulous, empathetic, and proven approach, they deliver good results and foster successful collaborations with architects, designers, and builders alike.

The Challenge           

• The client aimed to generate a weekly document that contains project status report so that their customers are in loop of current progress.
• Client wanted a modular structure so that the sequence of content on the document can be molded as per their customers and project needs by the project managers.
• They also wanted a way to print the documents after generation.
• Salesforce does not provide an out of the box feature to generate a document/pdf without any custom Salesforce development or add on package.

Our Solution

• Implemented a custom structure in Salesforce which allowed the maintenance of Project and its related data.
• Implemented a custom solution using Lightning components that fetched the Project data with the most recent information from the current week and displayed it on the page.
• Blueflame Labs implemented a solution using Visualforce custom development to generate pages in document format and in PDF which was downloadable. This allowed the client to send the generated document to the customers.

Used out of the box tools provided by Salesforce including Custom objects and field structure, Lightning web components, Visualforce pages and Apex for development of the document generation.

Results

The Impact and Outcome  

• Using the custom object structure created by Blueflame Labs, the client were able to customize the generated document easily by modifying the details of the Project and its related objects.
• The custom development ensured that the project managers were able to produce the structure with ease and choose to generate either word or pdf documents simply by click of a button.
• The generated document was downloaded to their local machines allowing them flexibility to further update them and print with ease.
• This also enabled the client to get rid of all the hassles to always create a new document from scratch which not only saved a lot of time for the client but also helped them get the most accurate information of the current progress of the project.
• The custom development also ensured the client do not have to buy any additional tools for document generation which also saved them future spending on licenses.
