About the Client

Our client is a major producer of aluminium and zinc alloys serving automotive, electronic, furniture, hardware and many other major sectors of Manufacturing industry. The client also serves these industries with die casting and foundry operations. The Client sells their products all over the world and has a vast customer base throughout.

They are known for their responsive and progressive approach, with a focus on providing quality metals and superior service.

The Challenge      

• The Client used a manual system for weighing items on a Scale Application and generate data for Items.
• This data is sent from Scale Application to Accuterm and then manually into NetSuite by creating Inventory Adjustment records for the Items.
• This process was tedious as it required user interaction in 3 different systems, slowing down the overall process and increasing chances of errors.
• The client wants a combined system to automatically record Inventory Adjustments for the Items while avoiding duplications.
• This automation should be a singular process and reduce user efforts while speeding up the process.
• The client also required a custom print label with dynamic data and a barcode against the created Items’ records.

Our Solution 

Blueflame Labs developed a streamlined process by integrating .NET application and NetSuite to gather data and automatically generate Inventory Adjustment into the NetSuite System for that item. To do so:

• A custom .NET application was created to interface directly with a scale application, replacing the older Accuterm software. This new application collects input directly from the serial port, streamlining the data acquisition process.
• The .NET application is integrated with NetSuite, a leading cloud-based ERP system. This integration allows for real-time validation checks, such as identifying duplicate records and performing other necessary record validations as per client requirements.
• By working together, the .NET application and NetSuite system create a seamless process for generating inventory adjustments. This ensures accurate and timely updates to inventory records, reducing the risk of errors.
• The integration significantly improves efficiency by automating the data recording process. Users can now create and record data from the scale in NetSuite with a single click in the .NET application. This automation bypasses two previously time-consuming steps, thereby saving time and reducing manual effort.

• .NET Framework: Microsoft framework used to build a custom application to interface with the scale application and NetSuite.
• Oracle NetSuite: Cloud-based ERP system used to manage inventory, accounting, and other business processes.

Results

The Impact            

After implementing this development:

• User’s efforts were reduced to create the inventory adjustment for the measured items.
• The margin of errors is reduced as only one interface is used to input the data for the item.
• The process is now efficient and streamlined into a single system.
• The systems are integrated and therefore the data is being fetched from one system to another with authentications and security protocols, ensuring the integrity of the data.
• The correlated data is sourced into the .NET Application from NetSuite while filling the input fields on the form for easy and effortless interaction with the system.
• The .NET Application now directly interacts with the NetSuite system, bypassing Accuterm, and speeding up the whole process.
